Heartburn While Pregnant

Heartburn–that annoying burning sensation in your chest that you just can’t seem to get to go away. Unfortunately, during pregnancy, heartburn occurs more frequently due to the hormone progesterone causing the valve between the stomach and the esophagus to relax. However, there are things you can do to help lessen the occurence. For instance, instead of three meals a day, try eating five or six smaller meals throughout the day. Also be sure to avoid spicy, greasy, and fatty foods, and wait an hour after eating before lying down. If you are still experiencing heartburn, eating yogurt, drinking a glass of milk, or putting a tablespoon of honey into a glass of warm milk can help to relieve symptoms.
